Orphan Relief and Rescue is very excited to welcome Stefan Lako to the ORR Team as the new Programs Director.

Throughout the past two years ORR has doubled programs in West Africa and expanded the mission of the organization to include anti-trafficking efforts in Benin, which has rapidly grown to encompass both rescue and prevention endeavors for hundreds of children there. Stefan’s role is a critical part in managing this growth and facilitating the future direction of our programs and efforts on the ground.

Stefan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Colorado and a Master of Arts in Global Development from the University of Bridgeport. He comes to ORR having previously worked as Programs Design Manager for Mercy Ships, an international charity organization providing healthcare in developing countries and has extensive experience traveling and working in West Africa. He relocated here to the Seattle area with his wife Genae, and their three children, Porter, Finley, and Titus. He is also a huge sports fan, and is already enjoying cheering on the Seattle Seahawks every week.IMG_9624 (2)

We wanted to give a big welcome to Stefan and hear a few words from him personally about why he’s excited to be joining the ORR team:

“First off, I am so excited to become a part of the efforts of Orphan Relief and Rescue. I have loved joining the team and have truly felt a sense of unity and loyalty among the staff. There is a level of trust that encourages one to dream, to express passions, and to use your own unique talents. I am excited to channel these passions, dreams, and hopes into the programs that I direct and create.

As Programs Director there is an exciting opportunity to continue to empower our partners in Liberia and Benin, both through the work that is already in place, as well as creating new projects that address areas of need in the places Orphan Relief and Rescue is present.”

Welcome to the team Stefan! We are all excited to be journeying together on our mission to end injustice.
